Here at Papier hq we are very excited about trends that are coming through this year. Here are a few design influences we are loving and can’t wait to incorporate in our home.
Lime stone, Fossil, marble, plaster, boucle, and concrete are textures which are heavily influencing design this year. Incorporating heavy textures is one of our favourite ways of bringing a space to life. It brings a new dimension to a space.
It’s all about the curves
You will see furniture with substantial rounded proportions with a focus on curvy modular form coming through in furniture design this year.
Curved elements in architecture are seen in furniture for example curved back chairs, rounded leg coffee tables, curved doors.
One designer we are obsessing over is Australian furniture designer Sarah Ellison. Her work is the epitome of style. Her use of curvy and almost futuristic shapes are what we can imagine will be a strong trend for years to come. Check out her incredible pieces at https://sarahellison.com.au
Rattan furniture was huge in 2020 and it’s not going anywhere in 2021. With more of a sophisticated spin by contrasting the rattan with black or brass, we are moving away from boho and moving towards a more modern spin on this trend. Linen and natural colour palettes are all about creating a sense of calm without the clutter. Simple style and soothing colour palettes are what we will be seeing lots of this year.
